“And strange to tell, among that Earthen Lot
Some could articulate, while others not:
And suddenly one more impatient cried—
"Who is the Potter, pray, and who the Pot?"”
Reflection · Spring 1405
Who is the Potter, and who the Pot? In spring this question is asked with the most energy — the spring person, newly formed, standing in the new year's light, asking the fundamental question of the created thing: who made me, and am I the maker or the made? Among the earthen lot, some could articulate, while others not — this is the spring condition exactly. Some of what has been formed in the new year will find its voice; others won't.
The impatient one who cries first is the spring voice: urgently wanting to know the terms of its existence before it has fully inhabited them.
