12 Ordibehesht 1405

Quatrain 38 of 75

“One Moment in Annihilation's Waste,

One moment, of the Well of Life to taste—

The Stars are setting, and the Caravan

Starts for the dawn of Nothing—Oh, make haste!”

Omar Khayyamtr. Edward FitzGerald, 1859

Reflection · Spring 1405

In spring, Annihilation's Waste is a distant desert and the Well of Life is right here, overflowing. The moment of tasting feels extended in spring — how could one moment contain so much? But the caravan is always starting. The stars are setting behind the spring sunrise, invisible but moving. Make haste — not the frantic haste of someone who knows they are late, but the wide-awake haste of someone who knows the caravan does not wait.

Taste the spring Well with everything you have. The dawn of Nothing is downstream from all of this. Right now: the Well.
