25 Ordibehesht 1405

Quatrain 51 of 75

“The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ,

Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit

Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line,

Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.”

Omar Khayyamtr. Edward FitzGerald, 1859

Reflection · Spring 1405

The Moving Finger in spring is writing fast — the spring days are short and full and the Finger is covering a lot of ground. What is written today in Farvardin will not be washed out. The record is being made in real time. The spring plans and intentions are themselves being written. What you do with this spring is already being recorded. The Finger moves on before you have finished deciding what to do.

This is not pressure — it is urgency of a different kind. Be present. Let what is written be what you actually did, actually felt, actually chose, actually lived.
