24 Mehr 1405

Quatrain 53 of 75

“With Earth's first Clay They did the Last Man's knead,

And then of the Last Harvest sow'd the Seed:

Yea, the first Morning of Creation wrote

What the Last Dawn of Reckoning shall read.”

Omar Khayyamtr. Edward FitzGerald, 1859

Reflection · Autumn 1405

In autumn the seed of the last harvest is being sown — this is both literal and cosmological. The last harvest's seed was sown in the first morning. What the Last Dawn shall read — autumn is reading it now, the partial version, the year's version of the cosmic record. The first morning's writing is partially visible in this autumn.

The verse in autumn is a horizon — looking back to the first morning and forward to the last dawn and finding yourself, in Mehr, at a particular point on the continuous line between them. Present. Momentary. Exactly written.
